It is worth remembering though that the weather in Scotland can be changeable, so make sure you pick up motorhome awnings in Kent before you set off on your epic road trip north of the border.

Loch Torridon on the country’s west coast is at the top of the list, with the newspaper noting that it’s known for its stunning landscapes, resident population of otters and gorgeous white sandy beaches.

The publication noted that there are some particularly spectacular views from some of the local camping and caravan sites, so this is a good one to include on a road trip. Local attractions here include Smoo Cave, Sandwood Bay and Cape Wrath.

John o’ Groats may be famous for being the UK’s most northerly point, but the newspaper believes it’s worth a visit for its unspoilt scenery and beautiful coastal walks. If you want to go even further afield, this is also where the ferries to the Orkney Islands depart from.
