Cornwall – The Place To Be This Summer!
As lovely as it is hopping on a jet plane and zooming off to foreign climes, there’s an awful lot to be said for a jolly good British staycation – as all your motorhome and caravan enthusiasts no doubt already know.
We have so much stunning countryside right on our doorstep, ripe for exploration, but it’s often forgotten about in the face of exotic far-flung destinations.
And this is why we’re so pleased to read this latest Travelodge report, revealing that thanks to Brexit 69 per cent of us have plans to take their yearly summer holiday right here on British soil, a rise of 12 per cent compared to 2018.
But where to go to? As already mentioned, there are some wonderful places to visit in the UK but you might want to put Cornwall at the very top of your must-see list, given that the southern county has come top of the Travelodge rundown of the most popular holiday destinations for 2019.
The top ten was made up of Cornwall, Blackpool, Devon, London, the Lake District, Brighton, Bridlington, Bath, Bournemouth and North Wales – with Cornwall coming top for the second year in a row.
“Our annual holiday index reveals that we have become a mighty Staycation Nation and are doing our bit for the economy. With over 560 hotels across the length and breadth of the UK, we are also seeing a growing trend in Britons taking multi-location holidays and more short breaks.
“Taking regular shorter breaks helps to maximise your holiday time, recharge your batteries, discover what makes Blighty so great and also provides interesting content to share on our social news feeds,” Travelodge spokeswoman Shakila Ahmed said.
