Best Places For A Scottish Motorhome Holiday
With spring making itself felt, and the arrival of summer tantalisingly close, now is the perfect time to start planning a getaway for the warmer months of the year.
If you’ve got your own campervan, you may well be looking for good spots to explore in the UK, and Scotland has some wonderful places that are perfect for those in motorhomes. The Daily Record recently picked out some of the best to give you some inspiration for your holiday planning.
It is worth remembering though that the weather in Scotland can be changeable, so make sure you pick up motorhome awnings in Kent before you set off on your epic road trip north of the border.
Loch Torridon on the country’s west coast is at the top of the list, with the newspaper noting that it’s known for its stunning landscapes, resident population of otters and gorgeous white sandy beaches.
Scourie, which is part of the North Coast 500 route, also featured. The publication noted that there are some particularly spectacular views from some of the local camping and caravan sites, so this is a good one to include on a road trip. Local attractions here include Smoo Cave, Sandwood Bay and Cape Wrath.
John o’ Groats may be famous for being the UK’s most northerly point, but the newspaper believes it’s worth a visit for its unspoilt scenery and beautiful coastal walks. If you want to go even further afield, this is also where the ferries to the Orkney Islands depart from.
Last year, the Scotsman highlighted some of the country’s top beachside location for motorhome breaks, including Yellowcraig beach in East Lothian, Dunnet Head in Caithness, and Stonehaven Bay in Aberdeenshire.
